INFORMATION PARENTS AND STUDENTS NEED TO KNOW
 ABOUT A MARYLAND LEARNER'S PERMIT
 

     

    • You only have to hold your MD Learner's Permit for nine (9) months before you can take your Road Test at the MVA to get your Provisional Drivers License

     

    •  
       The Learner's Permit holder must complete at least sixty (60) hours of driving, and ten (10) of those hours must be completed at night with someone who is at least 21 years of age, and has had their full license for a minimum of three (3) years. Those sixty (60) hours should be filled out in a Rookie Skills Log Book. This book was issued on the day that the permit was issued. If you lost your Rookie Skills Log Book, you can get another copy at any MVA.

    • You need a Learner's Permit to complete Driver Education. According to Maryland Law, a student can not obtain their driving hours in driver education without a permit, and a student can not receive certification for driver education without a learner's permit.
